I got up early yesterday, and went out into San Jose to have a little look around again, and take in the really quite beautiful city.
The sessions at today's INET 99 conference were extremely good. The initial session on Learning Tools was fantastic, as was the afternoon session on Digitising Culture, and the final session on Youth on the Internet brought up some interesting issues. Over lunch, we had a long chat with one of the lawyers for AOL, who is on one of the groups looking at privacy on the internet. Some very interesting issues were brought up.
Last night was the Gala Evening, which was held at The Tech. The museum has been extremely well thought out, and has some fantastic exhibits. Everything, with only the odd exception, is hands on, and you can find out how bar scanners work, how CDs work, how fibre optics, telephones, satellites... It really is a museum of the future. I was extremely impressed. Plus also, last night there was a wonderful array of food on offer - from the carving stations to some seriously delicious Japanese food.
