Captain Slog 20:00EST

The day started uneventfully enough with breakfast. Soon check out time arrived, and I made my way down to the reception to pay my bill. The shuttle bus offered to take me down then, but I declined thinking that 11 till 3 would be too much. I took the shuttle at 12 and got there for just after 12:30 - I chanced it and checked in. The person on the counter thanked me for checking in early and said the plane I had booked was chocka, and if I wanted I could go on the 1:10 which was nearly empty...

Fantastic... Also thunderstorms were predicted for Boston by my scheduled time, and remembering my flight from ORD - LAX this was fantastic news!

So, there am I on a nearly empty plane - I counted 10 other passengers - en route to ORD. This was a fantastic journey, via Canada - sadly camera in hold - and the Niagra Falls! Wow!

I arrived in Chicago about 3pm EST/4pm Chicago. It was nearly 2 hours until the plane would start boarding, so I had a wander around the terminal. There are 8 WHSmith's in block K alone - you learn something new everyday.

The plane was packed - as I write this I can see maybe 2 empty seats. To give American their dues, they are very good across the Atlantic, but internal flights are not so nice. They gave us drinks, a pretty OK meal, and then I settled down to a CD whilst the "Best of American Telly" tape was on - I feared what may be on that, I bought my duty frees, and then settled down to a couple of hours kip.

As I write this it is 01:00EST/06:00BST - I think. The sun is up, and I'm wide awake... Do they serve breakfast? The plane will be landing in less than 2 hours time. My body seems to run on sunlight, as as soon as it saw sunlight after dark it decided it was breakfast time. I hope this is a good omen for adjusting to BST again.

They did serve breakfast! A choice of cereal or omlette (hi Kimbo!) - I chose the latter. It was a red pepper omlette - I deduced this as it had a single piece of pepper in it. It wasn't a mistake as I could see others had a similar deal. I've had several cups of caftea, and now just getting ready for the landing in about 40 minutes.
