I'm now at the place where I'm staying. I won't call it a hotel. But more of that anon.

The final approach and landing went fine. I got off the plane, made my to find passport control, got through with no problems, and thought the place was a little warm. I waited for my luggage, and waited... And waited... Finally it arrived. I made my way out and found a person waiting for me with my name on a card

As I write this we're we're some 39000 ft above the air, at a speed of 607 mp/h with an outside air temperature of -48C with 3h 55 mins to go till we get there, it's 2141 miles to go, and the tail wind is 72kmh, we're also running about 3/4 hour late. This is seriously bad news. I knew it was bad news from the minute I discovered the screen on the seat in front.

Since the last time I flew with BA they've started to install personal screens with a range of 13 channels. Channel 13 has an online map showing exactly where you are at the moment, your distance, speed, and everything else you shouldn't really know if you are a scaredy cat when it comes to traveling.

I didn't have the best night sleep. After an evening of packing, repacking, unpacking and repacking, weighing, repacking and more packing I was tired and grumpy. Very grumpy. Sleep wasn't the best I'd ever had, tossing and turning and also suffering from the cat deciding to try and sleep on my head.

This morning I'm at work and frantically trying to get into BAs website to see if it'll let me choose a seat. I hope so. I don't want to have to sit where I can see the movie, or where I can see outside for that matter, and I'd like some leg room. Fingers crossed.

Well it's just a few days till I go. Today I need to make sure that all the packing is done. The good news is that I've heard from my contact in Abu Dhabi, I have a hotel, I have a taxi, I have somewhere to work also, so all is starting to look promising.

Tomorrow it's down to Heathrow ready to fly on Thursday morning. Tomorrow is when the panic will really set in.

Tonight I have the fun of trying to make sure I've actually remembered to pack everything, and not packed things I do not need ever! The 22kg limit should focus the mind. Then there is the fun of what goes in the hold and what with me. Do I take a chance on everything getting there in one piece...

I'm afraid that whilst I enjoy travelling and enjoy seeing new places I am awful at actually going there - I'm not a good flyer, and I'm most definitely not a good "travelling light" person.

It's been a strange day today. It started very early indeed. I'd been warned that you needed to get up early in order to get the car back to the car lot, then to the airport, get checked in, yada yada yada.

2AM I was awake. I tried to sleep, but I was too nervous at the thought of flying. 3AM I awoke again, gave up, got up, got ready, finished packing, and got in the car to the lot. Listened to some strange radio chat show, and was at the Hertz lot by 4:30am. I was at Boston Logan by just after 5am, with 45 minutes till check-in even opened.
